Christy Ponce, Ph.D.
Dr. Christy Ponce serves as the Vice President of Student Success, Workforce, and Resource Development.
She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Ph.D. Degree in Educational Administration in the Community College Leadership Program and a bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in Spanish. She also earned a master’s degree in political science and minor in legal studies from Texas State University.
Christy brings with her 15 years of experience in Student Services, Instruction, and Resource Development. Prior to coming to Lee College, Christy worked as the Executive Director for Foundation & Resource Development at El Paso Community College, Austin Community College with Early College Start; at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board with the College for Texans and Texas Scholars Program; Gear Up with Austin Independent School District; and in several capacities at The University of Texas at Austin. Christy also served as a government professor, teaching Texas and U.S. government.
Christy has been very involved with community, civic, and national organizations that support the progress of community colleges, including serving as a faculty resident for the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), was the recent past chair of the Junior Achievement of the Desert Southwest board, and serves on the National Advisory Board for Penn State’s Center for Minority Serving Institutions. Christy also serves on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Development Committees, Baytown Habitat for Humanity and is a member of the Baytown Kiwanis.
