Vision Statement

History of the Statement

Lee College provides learning opportunities and experiences to allow each student to excel in an ever changing environment.

Lee College will continue providing quality academic courses for those seeking certificates of completion, associate degrees, and baccalaureate degrees as well as state-of-the-art technical courses and training for those seeking to enhance their employment opportunities and skills and will provide educational and cultural opportunities for those interested in self-improvement, self-expression, and cultural enrichment.  Lee College will maintain an open door policy for all students, strive to make higher education affordable to all area residents, and work with area businesses and industries to meet their needs for a well-trained work force.

The following Principles will guide our goal setting and decision making.  We will:

  1. Provide and maintain an inviting and learning-centered educational environment that promotes student success with a full range of services to support all students.
  2. Advocate the free exchange of ideas while maintaining a flexible learning environment where all students are given diverse opportunities to learn.
  3. Continue developing and utilizing alternative methods of delivering instruction to increase student access to and successful completion of courses and programs.
  4. Continue improving recruiting methods and scholarship offerings so that the college may serve all students from the area who wishes to attend college.
  5. Maintain a campus atmosphere that attracts and welcomes new faculty and staff members and new ideas and promotes excellence by providing ongoing opportunities for professional growth and development.
  6. Foster cooperation, communication, and participation among and between the various sectors of the college community. 
  7. Uphold and maintain fiscal integrity and responsibility.
  8. Provide accountability through an ongoing system of goal setting, evaluation, and adjustment.
  9. Encourage and enhance a sense of global awareness.
  10. Support technological innovation and diffusion by encouraging the implementation of  new technologies in classrooms, laboratories, and offices.
  11. Develop partnerships with local business and industry.
  12. Provide cultural and personal enrichment opportunities that meet the needs of the community.
