Facilities Master PlanGray Science BuildingBuilding Description and Use: Building Energy Use Characteristics: Building Energy Use Indices are as follows: Data not available. Structural Characteristics: The structural system consists of a structural steel frame over reinforced concrete piles driven to 19 feet below grade. The first floor slab is reinforced concrete slab poured over a 24 inch thick, lime stabilized, select material base. Exterior walls are non-load bearing brick. Interior walls are a mix of painted sheet rock and vinyl covered sheet rock. Second floor is concrete poured over a steel corruform pan. Floor coverings are a mix of carpet, vinyl composition tile, ceramic porcelain, and rubber sheet. Ceilings are suspended acoustical tile. The roof structure is a three ply built-up system. Emergency purge systems were installed for the inorganic and organic chemistry labs in 1995-96. Roofing was partially repaired in 1997. The facility has an audible fire alarm system.
