Technical Vocational 9

Building Description and Use:
The Technical Vocational Building 9 of Lee College is a one story, 7,623 square foot structure constructed in 1977. The building houses four classrooms with no administrative areas. This building is on a campus with 36 other buildings, sharing the same electric and gas meters. The building is used only as post-secondary (college) school.

Building Energy Use Characteristics:
The building uses electricity for lighting, cooling, air and chilling/heating water circulation, and general equipment.  Domestic hot water is provided by individual hot water heaters. The building uses DX fan coil units for cooling with heat provided by electric heat strips and supplemented by suspended gas heaters.

Structural Characteristics:
This facility consists of one level. No basement.

The structural system consists of reinforced concrete footings and foundation walls supporting the pre-engineered steel frame structure.

The floor structure is reinforced concrete slab on grade. Floor covering consists of vinyl asbestos tile, and exposed structure.

Partitions are standard for the design and occupancy for which the building was intended. They consist of stud and gypsum board.

Ceilings consist of exposed structure with select areas of gypsum board and paint.

The exterior walls are basically pre finished metal panel with blanket insulation.

The roof structure is pre-engineered with pre finished metal panel cover. Blanket roof insulation.

Adequate plumbing for facility. Self contained heating and cooling system.

Adequate electric for facility.

Condition: Good. Exterior siding was cleaned and repaired in 1995. Classroom space and offices were renovated in 1994-95. New lights were installed.  Roof was repaired in 1999.

Occupancy: Technical/Vocational Shops and Classrooms.

Estimated Replacement Cost: $770,000.00
