RNSG1362 - Clinical-Nursing-Registered Nurse Training

Course Title: Clinical - Nursing - (R.N. Training)
Course Rationale:
Application of nursing care practices for Complex Concepts of Adult Health.
Learning Objectives:
- Use the nursing process as the framework to provide safe, individualized,
therapeutic, and caring interventions in a manner inclusive of the
participants’ diversity.
- Recognize the value of lifelong learning and continued nursing education
and participation in community and professional organizations.
- Make collaborative nursing decisions with clients and families across the
life span utilizing the principles and knowledge of biology, psychology, and
the humanities within the construct of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
- Act within the legal and ethical framework of nursing practice.
- Use acquired critical thinking skills as the basis for managing nursing
care for groups of clients in structured acute, chronic, and wellness
settings.
- Apply teaching-learning principles to assist clients and families in
making informed health care decisions and achieving levels of wellness.
- Use interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with health care
team participants to attain desired client-centered goals.
Specific Tasks Accomplished:
- Perform specialized nursing skills when providing therapeutic and
individualized care to the adult or elderly client in acute, chronic, and
wellness settings.
- Apply the nursing process in providing therapeutic and caring
interventions to adults considering complex disruptions of health and
utilizing teaching/learning principles.
- Utilize interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills to
collaborate with health care team participants to attain desired client
centered goals based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
- Facilitate life-long learning while building awareness of community
services and professional organizations that enable the student to enhance
personal and professional development while identifying client needs based on
various levels of wellness and diversity.
Grading Policy:
The grade for RNSG 1362 will be determined based on clinical performance and
written assignments. The specifics of the grade calculation will be explained on
the first class day in an addendum to this syllabus.
Clinical performance will be evaluated Pass or ‘Fail’ based on the following
criteria:
- Clinical Evaluation Tool (CET)
- Satisfactory performance on CET. An evaluation of clinical performance
will be done at designated times and at the end of the course.
- Tentative Care Plan (TCP)
- An average score of 74.5 on TCP with no more than three TCPs with a
score below 74.5
- Written Assignments -- Special Rotations
- The special rotation assignments will not receive a numeric grade,
rather performance will be measured based on fulfillment of objectives.
Attending the rotation as assigned and submitting a written report (see
syllabus) is required. Satisfactory completion of all special rotations
assigned is required.
- Adherence to HlPAA guidelines.
- Special rotation objectives are available for:
- Respiratory Therapy
- Home Health
No late papers will be accepted. An extension of the due date of the paper
assignments must be initiated by the student in writing 24 hours in advance and
permission granted by the instructor with the new due date in writing.
Note: Both RNSG 1343 and RNSG 1362 must be passed concurrently in order to
be eligible to enroll in the next nursing course.
