Roy Champagne is entering his 14th season as the head basketball coach at Lee College. Before accepting the head coaching job at Lee College, Champagne served as an assistant coach for two seasons with the Rebels. Champagne has a career record of 161 - 197 (.449). Champagne has built a strong foundation that will enable the Runnin’ Rebels to soar to new heights. Champagne has been active in the Louisiana AAU circuit since 1987. Champagne successfully led his AAU 17-and-under squad, Team Acadiana, to a state championship and ranked 6th nationally in 1987. Champagne received his bachelor’s in General Studies from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1993. A native of Virginia Beach, VA, Champagne was raised in Louisiana. He graduated from St. Thomas More Catholic High School in Lafayette. Champagne and his wife, Michelle, have two children, Catherine and Carson.

Marcus King enters his first season with the Lee College Runnin’ Rebels program. The Oklahoma native has eight years of coaching experience, most recently at NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico University where he served as assistant coach for two seasons. King’s primary responsibilities on staff include recruiting, guard development, and academic advisement.

Hammie starts his 6th season as assistant coach for the Lee College basketball program. Hammie joins the Runnin’ Rebels staff after a successful professional career. Before arriving at Lee College, Hammie played professionally for the Harlem Globetrotters from 1997 to 1998, and played overseas in the Phillippines, Russia,
Germany, Israel, Korea, and many more countries from 1993 to 1996. Hammie attended the University of Miami from 1989 to 1993 and played his high school ball at Houston’s Aldine High School. Hammie will bring knowledge and “know how” to a young Runnin’ Rebels team this season. There is no doubt that his experience playing at the University of Miami and his professional success, will make him a tremendous asset to the Runnin’ Rebels coaching staff.
