The Courts
Finished and handed over to
the tennis team in March of 2002,
the Lee College tennis facility is
one of the finest college facilities in
the nation. It houses eight brand
new lighted hard courts. The courts
are fashioned in school colors. The
courts are red, the area surrounding
the courts are gray and the courts
are enclosed by black fences.
Although the surface is hard,
the texture is fast.
“They are some of the fastest
hard courts in the Houston area,”
said coach Jason Haynes.
The courts were constructed as
part of a $20 million bond election passed in
February 2000, to build a new technology building/
library and a completely renovated gymnasium
and newly constructed sports/wellness complex.
Additional improvements planned for the
tennis facility include adding locker rooms and
meeting space.“When the courts are done, we will have the premier
tennis facilities in the region,” Haynes said. |
