Many high school students don’t know that filling out a single application can help them gain admittance into almost every public university and community college in Texas. During this hands-on workshop, students will have the opportunity to apply to their favorite colleges by completing the Apply Texas application.

Workshop Duration: 1-2 hours (depending upon number of students)
Workshop Details: Participants must have access to a computer lab, or have an Internet connection.

FAFSA 101

The financial aid process begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). With this one application a student can let up to ten schools review his or her information and determine how much aid he or she is eligible to receive.

Workshop Duration: 2-3 hours
Workshop Details: FAFSA workshops typically begin in February and extend through May. Workshops are open to both parents and students. Participants should bring W-2 forms, tax transcript and Social Security information for themselves and, if under 24 and/or married, their parent’s or spouse’s. Additionally, participants must have access to a computer lab, or have an Internet connection.

Destination College!

Preparing for college and navigating through the enrollment process can be difficult, but help is available. During this workshop students can learn more about the admissions and enrollment processes. Additional information will also be available.

Workshop Details: Although this workshop can be held anywhere, PowerPoint accommodations, including screen set up, are required.

My Life As a Rebel

With more than 130 different degrees and certificate programs, Dual Enrollment, a nationally recognized Honors Program, and university transfer options, Lee College is a springboard for success. During this dynamic presentation, students and parents will learn why Lee College is among the 120 best community colleges in the nation.

Workshop Details: This workshop can be held anywhere, and can be customized to focus on students’ particular interests. PowerPoint accommodations, including screen set up, are required.

Creating S.M.A.R.T. Goals

This workshop is designed to help students create and implement specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely goals. During the session, students complete a goal worksheet that helps identify both educational and career aspirations.

Workshop Duration: 1 hour
Workshop Details: Although this workshop can be held anywhere, PowerPoint accommodations, including screen set up, are required.

Exploring Your Career

This workshop is designed to help students learn more about career opportunities in various fields. Using interactive tools, students will navigate through Career Cruising which is an online career assessment program.

Workshop Duration: 1-2 hours
Workshop Details: Participants must have access to a computer lab, or have an Internet connection.

Student Ambassadors

As current college students, Lee College Student Ambassadors are able to relate to the audience on a personal level. During this workshop Ambassadors will provide insight on issues such as choosing a college, overcoming financial obstacles, college readiness and campus atmosphere.

Workshop Duration: Customizable
Workshop Details: This workshop can be held anywhere. However, due to the popularity of this program, workshop reservations must be made at least one week in advance.

On a bus

College Survival Skills

Transitioning from high school to college can be a daunting experience. During this workshop, students will learn more about college survival strategies including study habits, time management, note taking, examinations and interacting with instructors.

Workshop Duration: 1 hour
Workshop Details: Although this workshop can be held anywhere, PowerPoint accommodations, including screen set up, are required.

Campus Tours

Campus tours provide students with the opportunity to view our smart classrooms, interactive labs, and campus facilities, visit with faculty and students and experience Lee College for themselves. Tours can be customized to meet the needs of a group. Available tour options include:

  • Grade specific (from elementary to high school)
  • Group specific, such as for a particular student organization or special interest
  • Career or academic specific

Tour Duration: The duration of a campus tour is customizable; tours are usually 45 minutes
in length. Half-day and other options are available.
Tour Details: Reservations for groups must be made at least two days in advance. Tour groups are responsible for providing transportation to and from Lee College.
