Veterans Appreciation Day set for June 14

Join Baytown’s four veterans’ organizations — the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 912, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 922, American Legion Post 323 and Disabled Vets of America Chapter 126 — as they host the first-ever “Veterans Appreciation Day” to celebrate Flag Day and recognize all those who served our country with honor and pride.

The event will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at the VFW Hall, located at 8204 North Main in Baytown. All veterans and their families are invited to enjoy a free lunch and take part in a day of brotherhood, fellowship, music, fun and games for all ages.

Sodas, nachos, snow cones, popcorn and other refreshments will be available. There will also be a flag retirement ceremony; car show; World War II military display, provided by the Bay Area Military Museum; photo opportunities; a raffle; and an impersonation of famed U.S. Army Gen. George S. Patton. Children’s activities will include face-painting and a BB gun target shoot.
