Catalog Description: An overview of the skills and knowledge necessary for the instruction of cosmetology students.

Prerequisite(s):
Note: A High School diploma or GED and a valid Texas Cosmetology
License is required for admission to this class.
Pre/Corequisite: CSME 1435 and READ 300, ESOL 310, or equivalent

Course Title: Orientation to the Instruction of Cosmetology
Course Rationale:
Introduce the students to the rules and regulations of Lee Cosmetology, along with the TDLR code book. Discuss teaching methodologies and lesson plan development. Prepare a lesson plan.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the rules and regulations of the school, department, and state;
discuss teaching methodologies and lesson plan development.
Specific Tasks Accomplished:
- Students will satisfactory complete an exit exam over TDLR state mandated requirement of licensing and regulation.
- Student will prepare a lesson plan on a designated skill selected by the student and approved by the instructor
- Student will present a minimum of 2 lessons on approved lesson using proper visual aids
- Students will assist instructor in the department and record all of sessions to be reviewed in class.
