Course Title: Principles of Skin Care

Course Rationale:

Introduce the student to entry level facial procedures, to include cleansing techniques, facial manipulations, and proper product selections according to skin type.

Learning Objectives:

Identify the terminology related to the skin treatments; demonstrate the proper application and exhibit workplace competencies in skin care.

Specific Tasks Accomplished:

  1. Perform hair removal techniques to include waxing, tweezing and shaving.
  2. Perform brow and eyelash tinting techniques
  3. Perform basic and spa facial treatments
  4. Demonstrate knowledge in basic image consultation, and color selection for make-up and wardrobe.
  5. Use the Woods Lamp in determining skin type
  6. Properly apply make up to correspond with skin tones, types and facial shapes
  7. Introduce basic image consultation and color selection for make-up and wardrobe.
  8. Exhibit all safety and sanitation precautions as set forth by the Texas Cosmetology Commission
