Course Rationale:
Many law offices handle family law matters. The paralegal has the primary
responsibility of document drafting and client communications.
Learning Objectives:
Understand legal terminology and concepts relating to family law.
Specific Tasks Accomplished:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to accomplish the
following tasks:
- Define and properly use terminology relating to family law.
- Locate, describe, and analyze sources of law relating to family law.
- Describe the role and ethical obligations of the paralegal in family
law.
- Draft documents commonly used in family law.
- Apply principles of law relating to family law to fact situations.
- Write proper citations of law relating to family law.
- Describe the process a family law case passes through, from intake to
final disposition.
