Course Title: Intellectual Property

Course Rationale:

Knowledge of intellectual property is important for paralegal working litigation, commercial law, and estate planning law firms. Some firms specialize in intellectual property matters.

Learning Objectives:

Prepare and file United Sates and foreign parent, trademark, and copyright applications and perform related tasks.

Specific Tasks Accomplished:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to accomplish the following tasks:

  1. Prepare and file United States trademark and copyright applications and renewal applications.
  2. Prepare and file foreign trademark applications and renewal applications.
  3. File foreign patent applications and the payment of patent annuities required to maintain the patent.
  4. Perform the appropriate tasks to execute and legalize documents required to file foreign patent or trademark applications.
  5. Find existing trademark, copyright, and patent registration documents.
  6. Prepare necessary documentation required for trial in disputed intellectual property actions.
