Course Title: Intellectual Property
Course Rationale:
Knowledge of intellectual property is important for paralegal working
litigation, commercial law, and estate planning law firms. Some firms specialize
in intellectual property matters.
Learning Objectives:
Prepare and file United Sates and foreign parent, trademark, and copyright
applications and perform related tasks.
Specific Tasks Accomplished:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to accomplish the
following tasks:
- Prepare and file United States trademark and copyright applications and
renewal applications.
- Prepare and file foreign trademark applications and renewal
applications.
- File foreign patent applications and the payment of patent annuities
required to maintain the patent.
- Perform the appropriate tasks to execute and legalize documents required
to file foreign patent or trademark applications.
- Find existing trademark, copyright, and patent registration documents.
- Prepare necessary documentation required for trial in disputed
intellectual property actions.
