Available Services

Services and accommodations are determined by the individual student’s requirements and the requirements of the class. The following are possible services available to students with disabilities:

  • Classroom note takers
  • Peer tutoring (available to all students)
  • Sign language interpreters
  • Testing modifications such as extended test time
  • Textbooks on tape
  • Readers and/or scribes
  • Help with registration
  • Loan of equipment such as tape recorders or FM loop listening device
  • Screen Reading Systems
  • Voice to text program
  • Use of closed circuit television
  • Referral for diagnostic evaluation and community resources
  • Use of motorized scooter (available to any student in need)
  • Other services are available on an individual basis

The Disability Services Office works closely with Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) . Funds are also received from Carl Perkins Technical Vocational Grant for assistance with note taking, tutoring, and sign language interpreting services. The Handbook for Students with Disabilities outlines the policies and procedures for students.
