NEW! Online Application!

The 2009-10 Lee STARS On-line scholarship application process begins on February 16.  The 2009-10 academic year scholarships are open to all students (new, high school, current or transfer students). The competition includes a limited number of summer scholarships for current Lee College students only.

Only one summer and one academic year scholarship can be awarded per student, regardless of the number of scholarships you apply for. The early decision deadline is April 3.  To successfully complete an application, you will need a computer with Internet access, a valid email address, and an Internet Explorer web browser version 6.0 or higher.

For help with the application, you can come by the Student Success Center in Moler Hall or call 832-556-4578.

Before You Begin

  • You need to have your Lee College Student I.D. If you do not have a Lee College ID, you can use your birth date as a default, beginning with the number 9 (9mmddyy); however this will not work if you are a current Lee College student with a student ID.
  • All scholarships require GPA information; you will need your GPA from the last school you attended or your current GPA at Lee College.
  • You need to know your current program of study (intended major).

STARS OnlineHome Page

  • Students can reach the STARS Online™ home page at https://stars.lee.edu/stars. Click on "START HERE" to begin the application.
  • Please note that after you have established an account with STARS Online™, you may “save and exit” at any time to return when you wish to continue the application process. You may edit your application up to the application deadline.
  • If you filled out an application last year, and still have your user name and password, the first page of the application will already be filled in for you.  Please update this page if you have moved or your contact information has changed.

Personal Information

  • Students need to provide a valid e-mail address.  All Scholarship Award Letters will be sent to the e-mail address that is provided.
  • You will need your Student I.D. number (or birth date in 9mmddyy format if you are not a current student).

Opening Questionnaire

  • There are a lot of “yes-no” questions in the opening questionnaire, but your answers to these questions will identify which scholarships you are eligible to apply for at the end of the application process.

Academic Information

  • This section requires information regarding high school attended, expected or actual date of graduation, intended program of study and GPA. We will use your final high school transcripts, current Lee College transcripts, official GED, or ACT scores to determine final awards; it is your responsibility to make sure the College receives official final transcripts.  Do not leave any question blank.

Financial Information

  • Please answer the question asking for your total 2008 income, and indicate if you are still claimed as a dependent on your parent’s income tax form.
  • If you are a dependent, you need to include both parents’ income, as well as your own.  If you are married, you need to include your spouse’s income, in addition to your own.
  • If you do not answer the financial questions, you will not be eligible for scholarships for students with financial need.

Free Form Essay Questions

  • Answering these questions thoughtfully will allow donors and scholarship committees to get a preview of who you are and how serious you are about your education. You are encouraged to compose your answers in a Word document and then cut and paste it in to the appropriate area.

Attaching Documents

  • Only a few scholarships require documents to be attached. Those scholarships will indicate the needed documents when you apply.

Recommended Scholarships

  • When all sections of the application have been finished, recommended scholarships will appear.  We have eliminated the need to apply for multiple scholarships that have the same requirements.  Although you might only see four or five recommended scholarships, you still will be applying for over 50 scholarships.  You may view the individual recommended scholarships to see all of the requirements for that scholarship by selecting the “Apply Now” button.  Don’t forget to click on the “Apply Now” buttons to actually apply for the individual scholarships.
