SGA Minutes: 2011, 10-06

Call to Order: 4 PM

Officer Reports

a. President – April Cordero:

i. Announced Volleyball was to hold a Spirit Night on October 13.

b. Vice President – Markki Thibodeaux: Absent

c. Treasurer – Candy Rodriguez: Reminded the Senate that all budget amendments must be submitted with proper paperwork to Mike Spletter’s office. If a club needs petty cash, they may receive up to $30 from their account through the cashiers office; they must have club account number. Stated that Malloween will be on October 31st at 6:00 pm at San Jacinto Mall in Baytown.

d. Secretary – Lesley Bobo: Discussed that some paperwork from clubs needed to filled out for archival purposes. Asked clubs to dispose of their old SGA folders.

e. Public Relations – Open

f. Parliamentarian – Terrance Herman: Stated a survey about campus safety will be sent out in the future. Announced that the Board of Regents pushed back the cutting of additional sports for two years. Stated that during open forum, speakers must stand and announce their full name and club affiliation.

g. CAB – Blanca Aguilar: Distributed information for clubs regarding Fall Festival. Fall Festival will be held on October 27th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Clarified that baked good are acceptable, but there will be no preparation of food at the event. Announced Mattress Mack will be having a lecture in Tucker Hall on Wednesday October 12th at 7:00 pm. Stated that any club utilizing social media must submit the proper forms to Mike Spletter’s office.

Committee Reports

a. President’s Council – To be held on October 11th at 2:30 pm at 909 Decker Dr.

b. Safety and Security – Meetings are set for the 1st Thursday of each month

c. President Search: Next meeting is Monday October 17th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Old Business

a. Reminder about Officer Training. SGA needs student name and ID number, not their e-mail address.

New Business

a. By-law amendment was proposed, amended, and passed; amendment states that clubs are required to attend four (4) Senate meetings as opposed to the previous number of five (5).

Open Forum

a. October 28th at 10:00 am Kinesiology is hosting the Amazing-Lee Race at Lee College. Participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes as there will be a costume contest. Presented by David Bell.

b. Marcus Omtvedt of Phi Theta Kappa suggested organizing a by-law committee to be chaired by the Parliamentarian.

c. Betty Sustala with Webb proposed a budget amendment. She gave information regarding the history and fundraising of the club. The proposal is to supplement existing funds to go on a trip to Mexia, Texas. They have requested a total of $545.00; the Executive Board refined their request as the proposal didn’t state the amount. The amount was adjusted to $280.00
