Medical & Optional Benefits
Lee College’s medical and optional
benefits are provided through the Employees Retirement System of Texas
(www.ers.state.tx.us). Visit the website for benefit summaries, provider
directories and premium rates. Presently ERS pays 100% of the premium for
member only health coverage and 50% of the premium for dependent health
coverage.
Retirement Benefits
Lee College is mandated by the state of Texas to
automatically enroll all benefit eligible employees to the Teacher Retirement
System of Texas (www.trs.state.tx.us). Faculty and Administrators (hired
at grade 3 or above) are eligible to enroll in the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) within 90 days of their hire date. All benefit eligible
employees are covered by Social Security.
Leaves and Absences
- Personal illness accrues at 8 hours per month up to a maximum of
960 hours.
- After using all paid leave an employee is eligible to
receive 60% of base pay for a period not to exceed six
months.
- Modified duty is limited to 60 days per incident.
- The college provides Worker’s Compensation coverage for all
employees. The College has elected to pay the
difference between w/c’s weekly income benefits and the employee’s
regular base pay up to 180 days.
- Family emergency (64 hours) due to illness/bereavement is granted
to benefit eligible employees, to be taken by
anniversary date. Unused hours do not carry forward into subsequent
years.
- Maternity leave without pay may be granted with Board approval
not to exceed one year.
- Professional leave without pay may be requested by faculty and
administrators on a regular contract to the Chief
Academic Officer/appropriate Dean.
- Leave with pay may be granted by the Board to an employee upon
specific needs of the college.
- Military leave with pay shall be subject to review by the President
and Board.
- Jury duty leave may be paid with proof of such service from appropriate
court.
- Vacation time is accrued at the rate of 7 hours per month for continuous
service, except for faculty. Vacation credit
increases with years of service.
- Paid holidays and days off (19) are paid at regular base pay rates.
- One Personal Leave Day is granted to all benefit eligible employees
to be taken each year by anniversary date and
does not carry into subsequent years.
- The sick leave bank is a pool of hours available to benefit eligible
employees who suffers a catastrophic illness/injury,
up to 720 hours maximum, and has used all of their accrued paid leave.
Professional Development
Hourly employees may apply to Staff Assembly
for up to 50% tuition/book reimbursement for college credit courses,
up to 100% reimbursement for continuing education courses, and up to
100% reimbursement for workshops, seminars, and meetings. Reimbursement
is dependent upon being job related.
Faculty and administrators may apply
for sabbatical leave after 5 years of full-time employment.
Educational Assistance Policy
Faculty and administrators are eligible
to apply for educational assistance, and must have prior approval by
appropriate Dean prior to registration. Courses must clearly benefit
the college. Reimbursement maximum is one-half of the cost for tuition,
registration, required textbooks and other regular instructional fees
after deducting the amount of any other financial assistance toward these
costs.
Employee/Dependent Scholarship Program
This program is available to
all benefit eligible employees, their spouses, and dependent children
(who meet federal guidelines) for enrollment in Lee College’s credit
courses.
Lee College Bookstore
All benefit eligible employees (does not include
family members) receive a 20% discount for all bookstore purchases. |
