About the Conference

Learning takes place in many locations and within the context of a variety of forums. Instructors are challenged on a daily basis to find innovative ways of enhancing the Net generation of students learning experiences. Our goal is promote greater understanding of cutting-edge approaches, techniques and instructional methodologies online and in the classroom. The Teaching and Learning Technology Conference provides a forum for educators to share effective and innovative teaching and learning models.  This conference will explore and showcase excellence and innovation in teaching that facilitates student learning and positively impacts student academic success.

Frank (Francis E.) Hughes

Education and Training Products

Frank Hughes is responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities in technology-based training applications for the aerospace, energy, medical, engineering and education industries.   Frank Hughes, retired NASA Chief of Space Flight Training, joined Tietronix Software, Incorporated, as Vice-president of Education and Training Products.  In this capacity, Mr. Hughes and his technical team are producing Web-based education using virtual reality environments to teach all of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) areas.  Tietronix also produces training on subjects such as safety and security, business processes, and business dynamics.  His responsibilities include identifying and developing new opportunities in technology-based training applications for the aerospace, energy, medical, engineering and education industries.   

His extensive NASA career began in 1966 while he was involved with the Apollo Simulators as an Instructor, with expertise in the Apollo Guidance Computers. He has been involved with every manned space flight since that time. Upon leaving NASA, as Chief of the Space Flight Training Division, Mr. Hughes headed an organization responsible for all Shuttle and Space Station Training. His responsibilities also included the development of new technologies for training and education in the United States.

Mr. Hughes received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics at St. Mary's College, California, and a Master of Science degree in environmental management, University of Houston at Clear Lake City.   Frank recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Lunar Landing with the Houston Astros and threw out the first pitch along with other longtime members of the historic NASA team at Minute Maid Park July, 2009.
