Technology Workshop/Seminars Descriptions

Smart Classroom Training  Media Services will offer training on the use of the audiovisual “smart classroom technology” equipment in SS-107.  Both new and returning faculty and staff should benefit from these brief seminars, which also will include information about any recent changes to the equipment in the rooms.

Getting the Data Your Need: PS Query  A hands-on orientation to PeopleSoft online use. Pre-registration for new users is preferred and a PS Access Request Form is required for access.  How to build queries using the PS Query tool?  Topics include: Relational table concepts, Selecting tables, Selecting and manipulating fields, Selecting rows, Prompting for parameters, Saving results and Joining tables.

Introduction to WebCT for Faculty A hands-on orientation to WebCT. During the first part of the session, online faculty will get to see WebCT from a student perspective. This allows for basic understanding of the tools and terminology of WebCT. The second part consists of an in-depth view of WebCT where online faculty will learn the fundamentals of creating and teaching an online class. Existing online faculty are encouraged to come to brush up their skills.

Introduction to Respondus Respondus is a third party application that allows online instructors to easily manipulate quizzes in WebCT. In short, Respondus has an easy to use interface to add, edit, delete, and create quiz questions. Traditional exams can also be imported. Respondus can also set up question sets which allow questions to be randomly selected in WebCT. Perhaps the most powerful feature is the integration Respondus has with WebCT. A "Preview and Publish" tab allows for quizzes and exams to be transferred directly into an online course without entering WebCT.

Distance Learning (WebCT) for Student Getting started with WebCT, where to logon and accessing the online Lee College Student WebCT Orientation and introduction to tools used in WebCT.  Student will learn how to save their word documents and how to upload files to their personal space within WebCT.

MS XP, Vista and new Windows 7 With Windows 7 set to release 1st quarter 2010.  Are you ready to upgrade or stay with XP or Vista?  Come to this seminar and learn about the differences as they relate to security, compatibility and performance.
