Persistent Links - EBSCOHost

Using Persistent Links is a good way for faculty and librarians to set up online reading lists by linking directly to articles in periodical databases. Ebscohost supports persistent links by either copying the URL code directly into your web page or by saving and e-mailing persistent links to your "personal folder".

Licensing restrictions and copyright law require that persistent links to articles in subscription databases use authentication codes for access.  This means that students and faculty will need a validated Library I.D.. If you want to link to specific article URLs on your course page, follow the instructions below to allow students (including those off-campus) to access these resources. 

Note:  Authentication codes are needed in combination with the specific URL. Click here to see the authentication code and the list of Ebsco databases that support persistent links.

Directions: 

1. Go to the Lee College Library Database page
2. Select the database that you want to search and is listed as supporting persistent links.
• Example:
  Academic Search Premier
3. Find the article that you want to include on your reading list.
4. Click on the article title to bring up its unique record.
5. Locate the Persistent Link to this Article:
• Example:
  http://search.epnet.com/ direct.asp?an=10896233&db=aph
6. The unique part of this URL that you will need to include as part of the URL that links to this article is after the /direct.  To post this URL on your course page, you must insert this code http://0-search.epnet.com.halos.halan.lib.tx.us/ in front of the / direct. asp code so students can be authenticated through the library's system.
