Open Access Resources
Open Access literature is scholarly literature made freely available to the public through the Internet. Users are allowed to copy, download, distribute, search and print open access literature for free. However, users must acknowledge and cite open access literature in the same manner as traditional literature. Click here for citation help.

Books

  • eScholarship Editions - Academic books published digitally by the University of California. Choose to browse public subjects or titles to view the publicly available titles.
  • Google Books - Google Books allows you to search and view the full text of books in the public domain, as well as snippets of some books still under copyright protection.
  • National Academy Press - The National Academies Press publishes reports issued by the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council. Over 3,000 of these books are available to read for free online.
  • Online Books - The project of a researcher at Penn State University, this site offers a collection of links to open access books.
  • Project Gutenberg - Project Gutenberg provides access to over 18,000 free books online.
