Recommendations Regarding New Spending

Charge/Purpose

The charge given the Planning Committee when it was established in January, 1993 was twofold. First, the committee was charged with establishing a schedule by which it would review the College’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Goals and, when appropriate, make recommendations regarding changes. Second, the committee was charged the task of soliciting proposals for new spending from the college community, reviewing the proposals, and making recommendations to the president regarding them. The process was designed to dove-tail with the College’s budget building activities.

The committee does not make or interpret college policy but does act in an advisory capacity to the president. The processes used by the committee to develop recommendations include soliciting input from faculty, staff, and students and open hearings where persons may present their proposals, suggestions, or ideas and answer questions regarding them. All committee meetings are open to faculty, staff, and students.
