The Lee College GoalsThe first Goals implemented by Lee College were drafted by the Planning Committee in fall 1993, approved by the Board of Regents in 1994, and became effective at the beginning of the 1994-95 academic year. Each fall semester from 1994 through 2005, the Planning Committee reviewed the current Goals and, when appropriate, recommended changes to the president. The presidents have conducted his/her reviews, discussed changes (if any) with the members of the President’s Council, and presented recommendations regarding the Goals to the Board of Regents. The Board has approved Goals for the forthcoming academic year each year since 1994. The reviews conducted by the Planning Committee included invitations to the faculty, staff, and students to submit suggestions and/or comments regarding the Goals and open meetings where they could speak for the changes they proposed. One of the basic assumptions in the College’s planning process is that the College’s Vision Statement represents a long-range view of the College’s future and that its Goals are meant to provide more specific guidance vis a vis the attainment of the principles expressed in the Vision Statement. Consequently, the Planning Committee’s reviews of the College Goals that followed changes in the Vision Statement focused on recommending changes meant to ensure that the Goals remained in concert with the Vision Statement. Note that the change from annual reviews of the Goals to biannual reviews is reflected in the Overview of the Planning Process.
