Dr. Scarborough is the former president and current faculty member at The University of Akron. Prior to serving as president, Dr. Scarborough served as chief academic officer (provost) and executive director of the medical center at The University of Toledo.
Dr. Scarborough began his career in public accounting in Austin, Texas, in 1986. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in accounting, and holds graduate degrees from The University of Texas at Tyler, The University of Texas at Arlington, and Ohio Christian University. Dr. Scarborough is also a certified public accountant in both Texas and Ohio.
Originally from Baytown, Texas, Dr. Scarborough and his family live in Akron, Ohio, which is 40 miles southeast of Cleveland. Dr. Scarborough serves as a volunteer board member of the LeBron James Family Foundation Bureau, which focuses on preparing and supporting at-risk children for college and other vocational opportunities after graduating from high school.
