"The practice of social work requires knowledge of human development and behavior, or social, economic, and cultural institutions, and the interaction of these factors" (National Association of Social Workers, 2004). The introductory course, SOCW 2361, offers students an overview of the social work profession, its Code of Ethics, policies, and practice. "Individuals interested in pursuing the social work profession must earn a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree and complete a minimum of hours in supervised fieldwork to be considered professional social workers" (National Association of Social Workers, 2004).
