| Sociology is the systematic
study of society and its institutions, such as the economy, the political
system, the family, the media, and religion. The sociologist is interested
in the influence of these and other institutions on human behavior. Some
typical sociological questions are: Why do we have inequality? What is
the source of change in society? Is social or economic success the outcome
of hard work, social advantage, or both? How does religion affect the
economy? How does the economy affect religion? Sociology graduates are
well prepared for careers in the social services, government, or private
industry.
