Special Populations
Our purpose is to assist students with particular barriers
to enroll in and successfully complete their technical courses at Lee College.
We work especially with technical/vocational students who may experience
difficulty due to academic or economic levels, especially single parents and displaced
homemakers.
We offer child care and other assistance to eligible technical/vocational
students. We also offer registration and enrollment assistance,
financial aid application assistance, and academic and personal counseling.
The Special Populations office coordinates Project
Leeway, provides
Job Development and
offers supportive services for students.
We have created a clothes closet stocked with "gently used clothing" appropriate
for job interviews. The clothes closet will be available to all students
on campus in need of appropriate clothing for a job interview.
We maintain a lending library of textbooks for eligible
students with technical majors. We also offer emergency transportation
assistance, and stock a small food pantry.
Finally, our office coordinates student support loans
for textbooks and transportation of up to $300 for eligible students
