ACNT2389 - Internship--Accounting
Catalog Description: A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer. Mentored and supervised by a workplace employee, the student achieves objectives that are developed and documented by the college. The experience may be paid or unpaid, MUST be in accounting related job for a minimum of 13 hours per week. Students must have an approved job site by the second class of the semester. As a capstone elective, this class must be taken in the student's last semester of the AAS Accounting Technology degree.

Course Title: Internship—Accounting
Course Rationale:
The purpose for this course is to give students the opportunity to apply
accounting skills and concepts learned in the AAS Degree in Accounting
Technology program to requirements of an actual business setting.
Learning Objectives:
As outlined in the learning plan, Apply the theory, concepts, and skills
involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations,
laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental,
social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the
business/industry and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety
practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal
communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the
business/industry.
Specific Tasks Accomplished:
- Participate in a guided work experience, performing job duties assigned by
the employer, and being evaluated by the employer on performance.

- Polish and update skills learned in the Accounting Technology Associate
Degree program and to add on-the-job experience to these acquired skills. (C1,

skills-participates as a team member, serves clients/customers, works with

- Follow directions and work independently in a job setting by completing

- Discuss the meaning of business ethics and evaluate basic standards of
ethical conduct in business; recognize both ethical and unethical behavior in

- Produce an updated resume that reflects current work and education; write

- Prepare summary reports of magazine articles or books on all of the
