Course Rationale:

This course is to provide the student with an overview of the process technology program, job opportunities, work expectations, and required skills and credentials for successful job placement and employment in the chemical processing industry.

Learning Objectives:

Arrange process equipment into basic systems; describe the purpose and function of specific process systems; explain how factors affecting process systems are controlled under normal conditions; and recognize abnormal process conditions

Specific Tasks Accomplished:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Arrange process equipment into basic systems.
2. Describe the purpose and function of specific process systems.
3. Explain how factors affecting process systems are controlled under normal conditions.
4. Recognize abnormal process conditions.
5. Draw Process Diagrams - draw and design control loop system for press, temp, flow, level
6. Describe Utility systems
7. Describe Reaction systems
8. Analyze and discuss Distillation systems

   1. Complete Distillation Modules on DCS
   2. Operate Bench-top units- Plate, packed, SPC, PFD, Eq-desc & Quality tools
   3. Start-up/Shut-down Distillation System Simulation
   4. Write operational procedures
   5. Collect and analyze data
   6. Fill-out technical notebook

9. Explain the key elements of a Separation systems
10. Describe Plastic systems
