Course Title: Theater Academic Cooperative
Instructional Goals and Purposes:
Lee College’s instructional goals include:
- creating an academic atmosphere in which students may develop their
intellects and skills and
- providing courses so students may receive a certificate/an associate
degree or transfer to a senior institution that offers baccalaureate
degrees.
General Course Objectives:
Theatre Academic Cooperative is designed for the intermediate theatre
student. The course is intended to expose students to expose students to a wide
variety of theatre theories and practices, to allow student to gain intensive
individual experience in different areas of theatre, to help the student build
portfolio, to practical problem solving and critical thinking, to world
literature, and to reinforce an appreciation for the craft.
Specific Course Objectives:
- To gain specific intensive theatre experiences in theatre areas.
- To expose students to various problems in theatre history.
- To gain practical knowledge and experience in various areas of theatre.
- To aid students creation of a portfolio.
- To be more aware of vocational options in theatre.
- To increase the student’s knowledge of world literature.
Course Content:
Students will be required to do the following:
- Attend class lectures and participate in class discussions and
exercises.
- Design and complete creative projects.
- Complete all graded assignments, quizzes, tests, and exams.
- Attend and review all theatre department productions.
- Read various plays assigned in class.
Students may also be required to:
- Read and research topics in theatre.
Methods of Instruction/Course Format/Delivery:
Faculty may choose from but are not limited to the following methods of
instruction: lecture, discussion, Internet, video, television, demonstrations,
field trips, collaboration, and readings.
Assessment:
Faculty may assign both in- and out-of-class activities to evaluate students’
knowledge and abilities. Faculty may choose from the following methods:
- Class preparedness and participation
- Collaborative learning projects
- Compositions
- Exams/tests/quizzes
- Homework
- Internet
- Journals
- Library assignments
- Readings
- Research papers
- Written assignments
Course Grade:
Grading will be based on the successful completion of all of the above course
requirements and in combination with a careful review of your development in
your technical and design work with the following percentages:
