Course Title: Piping Standards and Materials

Course Rationale:

The student will learn to define and identify metallic and nonmetallic pipe and tubing; interpret pipe specifications; select, inspect, install and maintain various types of valves.

Learning Objectives:

The student will define and identify metallic and non-metallic pipe and tubing; interpret pipe specifications; describe and identify various types of valves and fittings; and explain valve applications.

Specific Tasks Accomplished:

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to solve advanced trade math problems. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  2. Explain the use of motorized equipment. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  3. Explain how to plan field route and erect vessel trim. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  4. Identify, store and install valves. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  5. Identify, select, install and maintain spring can supports.  (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  6. Explain how to perform piping systems tests. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)

Grading Policy:

The semester grade will be determined by the accumulated average scores received on all written examinations and performance profiles.
