Catalog Description: Advanced pipe fabrication procedures of threaded, socketweld, and buttweld pipe joints. Layout and fabrication of vertical, horizontal, and rolling off-sets using 45-degree fitting and odd-angle fittings. Lecture Hrs = 3, Lab Hrs = 3

Course Title: Pipe Fabrication and Installation II

Course Rationale:

This course is designed to teach the student to fabricate advanced piping offsets, solve special piping problems and develop and layout templates for various types of pipe intersections and miters.

Learning Objectives:

The student will fabricate advanced piping offsets; solve special piping problems; and develop and lay out templates of various pipe intersections and miters.

Specific Tasks Accomplished:

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. (1) Explain how to plan and coordinate work activities. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  2. Solve advanced piping offsets. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  3. Develop pipe templates. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  4. Demonstrate thermal methods of aligning pipe. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  5. Explain hot tap procedures, including safety, potential hazards and stopples. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  6. Demonstrate tubing bending and installation. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)
  7. Explain the use of basic plumbing fixtures and pipe. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)

Grading Policy:

The semester grade will be determined by the accumulated average scores received on all written examinations and performance profiles.

Numeric averages convert to letter grades as follows:

93-100 A
86-92 B
79-85 C
70-78 D
Below 70 F
