Please read the information below before
registering On-line courses provide students with unique learning opportunities, including schedule flexibility, computer-based interactive exercises, and self-initiated learning. Along with these opportunities come unique responsibilities. For classes that are completely on-line, there are no formal lectures or regular class meetings. Hybrid courses do have a lecture component; however, approximately half of the material will be learned by way of self-study. Thus, students who enroll in these types of courses must be good readers who can readily comprehend written material. Although your instructor is very accessible for questions or concerns, the independent nature of these courses demands a great deal of motivation on the part of the student and the discipline to set aside the time needed for studying and for completing assignments. Take the "Is Distance Learning for You?" quiz to assist in your decision about enrolling in an on-line course. Finally, it is assumed that students who enroll in these courses have easy access to a computer with internet capabilities and e-mail, and are comfortable in using them. If you meet these requirements, you may be a good candidate for on-line learning. |
