This is open for public comment on the proposed fiscal year 2026-2027 budget. Did this require anyone to sign up or it's just open? [Speaker 3] It did. We did have a sign up page. Mr. Chairman, one person has signed up. David Isaac. Okay, Mr. Isaac, come on up. [Speaker 1] Mr. Chairman, Board of Regents, I'm David Isaac. I hail from Baytown, Texas. I'd like to comment today regarding our priorities regarding the budget. But first, I want to frame what sort of mindset we should have, what sort of mindset I know you have. I've done some research with the Rotary Club. I know a lot of you guys are in the Rotary Club like to rub elbows and, you know, do the good old boy stuff. And you have to ask yourselves the four-way test in the Rotary Club. Is it truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? And will it be beneficial to all concerned? So when Don Coffey is awarded a court named after him, when Gilbert Santana, Rotarian himself, called Don Coffey a liar during a Rotarian meeting. [Speaker 2] Mr. Isaac, I'm going to just ask you to stop. You can pause my time then. I'd like to reclaim my time. [Speaker 1] It's two minutes and 15 seconds, Mr. Chairman. [Speaker 2] I'd like to reclaim my time. This is a specific agenda item, public hearing on the budget. That's right. You can bring those comments. [Speaker 1] And I want $10,000 of Don Coffey's money he gave to you to go back to him. That's part of the budget process. Is that not, Mr. Chairman? [Speaker 2] No, it's a donation. So all I'm saying is this agenda item is very. [Speaker 1] Can I make it about the budget, Mr. Chairman? [Speaker 2] Are you limiting my free speech? Do I have to talk to the Attorney General regarding my speech? You may talk about a specific agenda item we have on this public hearing. And it is the budget, is that correct? It is the budget, the operating budget of this college. [Speaker 1] So when I talk about trust, Mr. Chairman, and the lack of trust from the public, Mr. Chairman, is it related to this budget, sir? Is that related to that? Can I speak on that, Mr. Chairman? I'll reclaim my time then. Very well. Thank you very much. So is it truth? The question is, the answer is no, it is not true. And it doesn't benefit anybody to name a basketball court after a corrupt judge, who you of which yourself called a liar, in the public domain. That's a lack of leadership, a lack of trust. [Speaker 4] And I think that this budget we're proposing today, the only positive thing, by the way, being the $20,000 increase to student activities. Thank you, Jacob. [Speaker 1] Today, we should vote it down because it doesn't include $10,000 of Don Coffey's money. We want it back. There's a lack of trust when we appoint people who aren't qualified, when we name courts after people who are not qualified to have courts named after them, then this budget that you propose in front of us is moot, isn't it, Mr. Chairman? Mr. Chairman, in fact, I think you should resign today. Call it in and resign. That would make me approve this budget. Is that related to this topic, Mr. Chairman? I choose not to be interrupted again, Mr. Chairman, or I'll take it to the DA, Mr. Chairman. [Speaker 2] You are welcome to take- Mr. Chairman, I'd like to reclaim my time. [Speaker 1] It's my three minutes to speak. Stop it right now. I think you should stop, Mr. Chairman. Stop lying to us. Stop lying to the Rotarians. Stop approving Don Coffey. Why did you let him get $10,000 to name a court after him? [Speaker 2] I'm going to ask you one more time. Why did you elevate Jacob Atkins, who has no academic background? I'm about to ask you- This pertains to the budget, Mr. Chairman. I'm about to ask you to be removed. [Speaker 1] And this budget is faulty. [Speaker 2] I'm about to ask you- I was here. Your comments to this proposed budget- I'm telling you that this proposed budget by this chairman, who named a basketball court after somebody he called a liar, is a faulty budget, Mr. Chairman. There is no- Is that related to the topic? [Speaker 2] This has nothing to do with our proposed budget. Yes, it does have to do with the proposed budget. I just told you how, Mr. Chairman.
