The Cos­met­ology pro­gram pre­pares stu­dents in all phases of Cos­met­ology. The pro­gram cons­ists of 1,000 hours of train­ing in theo­reti­cal found­ations, man­ipula­tive skills, busi­ness knowl­edge, pro­fes­sional and ethi­cal prac­tices, and pre­pares stu­dents to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Cosmetology Operator written and practical examination.

 

What will I learn?

Upon successful completion of the Cosmetology program, students will be able to:

  • Conduct services in a safe environment and take measures to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.
  • Define and exhibit the basic art principles and elements related to cosmetology.
  • Describe and demonstrate the practical skills required to provide appropriate services to meet the needs for a variety of clients and/or students.
  • Explain the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Cosmetology laws and rules.
  • Achieve the preliminary qualifications and requisites to apply for the licensing examination.
  • Model professional life skills and express business principles associated with a professional salon environment.
