Lee College’s Mexican American Studies (MAS) is an interdisciplinary program that examines the historical developments, cultural practices, social movements, and socioeconomic conditions that have shaped the rich, layered experiences of Mexican American, Chicana/o, and Latina/o communities.
MAS’s core mission is to prepare students for their academic and professional futures by advancing their knowledge, sharpening their critical thinking, and strengthening their decision-making skills.

Through MAS4, the associate degree in Mexican American Studies, students learn how historical developments, social movements, cultural practices, and socioeconomic conditions have shaped the past, present, and future experiences of Mexican Americans, Chicana/os, and Latina/os. The curriculum aligns with Lee College’s designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and advances Mexican American Studies as a relevant and dynamic field of study for academic growth, personal enrichment, and professional preparation.
