Meeting was called to order at 2:05 p.m.

  1. Approval of Minutes: Minutes from November 20, 2012 were approved as written.
  2. Old Business:There was no old business.
  3. New Business
  • Dr. Michael Gos presented a process for approving the new evaluating assessment plans for General Education courses. He appointed a committee to create a consent agenda that will include all courses that divisions are requesting be included as part of the core. Volunteers for the committee are Stewart Edwards (Chair,) Joseph Ganakos, Tia Hall, Dean Jeff Thies and Dean Layton Childress. The agenda is due April 8, 2013 and will be presented as a package. Individual items may be pulled and voted on separately if any member objects to any item.
  • Rod Hellyer proposed to reinstate MCHN 2403. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
  • The proposal to instate MCHN 1381 as a co-op course was withdrawn.
  • Rod Hellyer proposed to discontinue INMT 1311 due to lack of student interest in the course. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
  • Dr. David Jaroszewski presented for Gregg Lattier. Dr. Jaroszewski proposed a course name change for BMGT 1307. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
  • Dr. Jaroszewski proposed removing SPCH 1321 from the CORE in Business degree plans as it is listed in the Field of Study. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
  • Jim Richardson proposed a change in the prerequisites for ELPT 1420, ELPT 2325, ELPT 1445, ELPT 1441, ELPT 2405, ELPT 2319, ELPT 2331, and ELPT 1455 to have READ 300 removed as a co-requisite and maintain READ 300 as a prerequisite only. ELPT 1419 will remain a prerequisite. A motion to accept was made by Rod Hellyer and seconded by Joe Ganakos. Motion carried.
  • Jim Richardson proposed the discontinuation of ELPT 2355. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
  • Dr. Charlotte Mueller proposed a curriculum change in the Church Music AA degree. MUSI 1308 and MUSI 1309 will be streamlined into MUSI 1307. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
  • Stewart Edwards presented for Steven Showalter. Mr. Edwards proposed updating the prerequisites for PSYC 2314 to require students to earn a C or better in PSYC 2301 and updating the prerequisites for SOCI 2319 to require students to earn a C or better in SOCI 2301. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Dr. Charlotte Mueller. Motion carried.
  • Thomas O’Kuma proposed catalog course description updates for BIOL, CHEM, ENVR, GEOL, ENGR and MATH courses. A motion to accept was made by Stewart Edwards and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
  • Thomas O’Kuma proposed an amendment to the agenda to include course description updates PHYS. A motion to accept was made by Dr. Michael Gos and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
  • Thomas O’Kuma proposed catalog course description updates for PHYS courses. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
  • Thomas O’Kuma proposed the discontinuation of BIOL 1475. A motion to accept was made by Stewart Edwards and seconded by Thomas O’Kuma. Motion carried.
  • Thomas O’Kuma proposed the discontinuation of ENGR 1305. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
  • Thomas O’Kuma proposed adding ENGR 1304 to the curriculum to replace ENGR 1305. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Angela Noack. Motion carried.
  • Marice Ivey proposed the addition of one lab hour to HITT 1301 and HITT 1355 as required by the state. A motion to accept was made by Rod Hellyer and seconded by Joseph Ganakos. Motion carried.
  • Dana Byal’s proposal for changes in the AAS Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Engineering Technology was withdrawn.
  • Joyce Jacobs proposed changing the Co/Prerequisites for EDUC 1300 to require ENRD 402 as a prerequisite. A motion to accept was made by Thomas O’Kuma and seconded by Paul Arrigo. Motion carried.
  • Joyce Jacobs proposed adding a prerequisite of READ 300 or equivalent, essay score 3 or better, and sentence score 60 or better to LSSS 300. A motion to accept was made by Stewart Edwards and seconded by Thomas O’Kuma. Motion carried.
  • Joyce Jacobs proposed updates for the prerequisites for ENRD 401 and ENRD 402 were withdrawn until the prerequisites can be reworded.
  • Joyce Jacobs proposed, due to state requirements, changing the credit hours for MATH 310, MATH 320, MATH 330, and MATH 342 from four lecture hours to three lecture hours and one laboratory hour. A motion to accept was made by Joseph Ganakos and seconded by Thomas O’Kuma. Motion carried.
  • Joyce Jacobs proposed the addition of MABR 342, MABR 310, MABR 330, and ENBR 402 to the curriculum to serve as bridge courses in the developmental series. Each of these courses will be two lecture hours and one laboratory hour and will be three weeks only. Courses will be funded by fees, not tuition. (This must go before the Board of Regents for approval.) A motion to accept was made by Thomas O’Kuma and seconded by Rod Hellyer. Motion carried.
  • Joseph Ganakos proposed prerequisite changes for SPCH 1311, SPCH 1315, SPCH 1318, and SPCH 1321 to include ENRD 401, or equivalent as the prerequisite. A motion to accept was made by Thomas O’Kuma and seconded by Stewart Edwards. Motion carried.
  • Dr. David Jaroszewski proposed discontinuing ENGL 2311 as a requirement in the Business – Management (AAS) degree plan. Dr. Jaroszewski also proposed the addition of BMGT 2388, an internship, as a Capstone course to replace ENGL 2311 in the degree plan. A motion to accept was made by Thomas O’Kuma and seconded by Paul Arrigo. Motion carried.
