Exemptions and Attorney General's Opinion

  PDF this page

At times, Lee College may exercise its right to seek an opinion from the Attorney General concerning certain categories of information exempt from disclosure under the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA). This step is taken to ensure compliance with legal requirements and address any uncertainties related to the release of specific records.

Categories of information that may be exempt from disclosure include sensitive or confidential materials, as outlined by applicable laws. Such exemptions are designed to protect privacy, security, and the integrity of certain processes. [2]

In the event that information is withheld, requestors retain the right to appeal the decision. The appeals process provides an avenue for individuals to contest the withholding of specific information. Requestors can initiate the appeal by contacting the college and expressing their intent to challenge the decision. The college will then provide guidance on the subsequent steps involved in the appeals process.
